The Nobody Doll
School kids are learning a lot
about themselves from a denim
doll with an identity crisis. The “Who is NOBODY” program is a pilot project now underway in a total of six classes in three different
Whitby schools thanks to a donation from local Rotary Clubs.

It begins with a mysterious box delivered by the school principal. Marked, "To everybody from Nobody," the box contains Nobody, a faceless denim doll.

When Nobody arrived at the schools in the fall it was a plain blue denim doll without any character.

For the rest of the school year, students must help Nobody, become somebody by using their interests and abilities to help others. Each week a student had a turn to take the doll home for a week. When the doll was at home, they had an opportunity to add something to it that represented the project that they had worked on that demonstrated their way to be kind to living things.

By June Nobody had become a Somebody.
