Students Experience Why EVERYBODY is SOMEBODY™
The program begins with three short start-up lessons (via DVD) that explain the 5 Easy Who Is NOBODY?™ Steps. Each step is applied to an example Who Is NOBODY?™ Experience that supports Free The Children (www.freethechildren.com). This ready-made class Who Is NOBODY?™ Experience demonstrates to students how easy and fun it is to help others. (The rest of the program is self-running, via self-directed decision-making steps!)
Students then work on The 5 Easy Who Is NOBODY?™ Steps
individually to explore and identify their own
interests, and to experience their own way of helping living things.
Each student
has a turn to take
NOBODY and the support materials home for a week (staggered over the school
year). Then they reflect
and document their experience via a story, picture and safely adding something
to NOBODY that represents their Character-In-Action.
At the end of each week, the participating student presents NOBODY, a story
and picture to the class in
order to share and celebrate putting unique strengths and the character attributes
into ACTION! Students
inspire each other.
Over the school year NOBODY goes from being NOBODY, a doll
with no character, to SOMEBODY, who has
lots of character as a result of each student's actions - becoming a class
mascot. Students also assemble
their individual stories, pictures and photos in a Scrapbook that unites and
captures their experiences. The
completed Scrapbook visits every student's home to share how NOBODY became
SOMEBODY (thanks to
EVERYBODY!).
Follow-up exercises then relate Who Is NOBODY?™ Experiences to career choices
and summarize key
character-building concepts for students.
